Second Bargello Mug Rug

I was able to piece the second mug rug the same evening. This is with the bands cut into one more piece than the first mug rug with the darker maroon color.

Bargello quilt and MUG RUG

The photo is the first bargello mug rug and start of the         second one below it.

I finally have accomplished a few things. I made my first bargello. It feels like I made it twice with all the mistakes and resewing. I am at the last borders on it but I stopped to experiment with a small one. I have wanted to make a mug rug for a long time. I cut a bunch (overkill) of 1.5" strips of left over fabrics from my bargello. Obviously tired when I did this. I am working on the second mug rug because of the overkill.
The mug rug should be about 9.5"x 7.5 finished. It starts out with 8 strips that are 1.5" wide. If the whole strip WOF was used, it would make 2 mug rugs. That means this is fat quarter friendly. I don't have exact info written down. I didn't have a chart. I seriously made the strips, stitched them and started cutting the bands. I saw that some were too close to the same size and trimmed small slivers off them.
The bargello quilt is pink and gray so my left overs are too. The mug rug has 3 light pinks and one darker one. It has 4 grays in it and then the 4 pinks.
