patriotic mug rug

I finally got around to a photo of the patriotic mug rug. I would only use one row of cream in this size but I have 2 strips of cream.  Listed next is the cuts I made for this size and this mug rug.

the first row on the left is the set of color strips used. There are 3 reds, a cream used twice, and 3 blues. These 8 strips were cut as 1.5" wide WOF but you only use 18 to 20 inches of each strip...a whole strip makes 2 of these. You could use strips from fat quarters.

Next project POSTPONED swirling stars from Eleanor Burns

  I changed quilt orders. I also had to stop and plant the summer flowers. I currently have been beating myself up mowing the grass and trimming the dogs hair.
I have been watching the Eleanor Burns webinars again. I love the swirling stars. I appreciate that she has them with info to use either the charm packs, layer cakes, jelly rolls or scraps. I have fabrics picked out for mine and need to wash them first.

apple core

I am multitasking again. I get too bored with one project. I have started an apple core. I started with a large size piece. I am not happy with my colors and am in the process of dividing it into 2 quilts hoping to be more pleased with them both.
TIP ** I will say that I would never start this type without clearly marking the center of each side on each piece. I also think it needs to have the ends and middle pinned but also one on each side of the middle at the half way point from the end. It is a bit slooower and more tedious than I thought it would be.
It probably evens out with the piecing for a more complicated quilt but still tedious. My pieces are large and I thought the curves would be easier. They aren't!
  I put the rows from a patriotic chevron together. I have too many things started but it does give me a piece of work that is easy to finish at a later date. I still have a bunch of large squares cut for another chevron too.
  I am washing a few of the fabrics with red or all red since they seem to be the worst bleeders.

more mug rugs

I am working on more rug mugs. I want enough to load on the longarm frame and do together. I cut up some stash of Kool Kats and made 2 more mug rugs. I have 3 bargellos now, one Laurel Burch cats, and the 2
Kook Kats. I am not used to doing smaller stuff. I am getting better at it after doing the bargello quilt and working with the narrow pieces on it.

   I like the second one better with more colors in the pieced section.
